Ajith Kumar was born on 1 May 1971, in Hyderabad, India. His father P. Subramaniam and his mother Mohini. Ajith dropped out of his higher secondary schooling. Ajith has started a job as an apprentice and spent six months training to be a mechanic in an Enfield company. Later, he left the mechanic job and joined the garment exporting company as a salesperson. Then he resigned from his job, set up a textiles business distributing fabric alongside three other partners but the business venture was underperformed. During the period, Ajith also worked on some modeling assignments. He wanted to become an actor while modeling for Hercules Cycle and Motor Company. He began his career with a small role in the 1990 Tamil film En Veedu En Kanavar. He established himself as a successful actor in many Tamil films including Kadhal Kottai, Aval Varuvala, Kaadhal Mannan, Amarkalam, Vaali, Citizen, Varalaru, Kireedam, Billa, Mankatha, Billa II, Arrambam, Veeram, Yennai Arindhaal, Vedalam.
